CHIMNEY CLEANING
(MENTION THIS AD AND RECEIVE 10% OFF YOUR NEXT CLEANING)
Like most things, your chimney needs regular maintenance to keep working properly and safely. The National Fire Protection Assoc. Code 211 states; Chimneys, fireplaces and vents shall be inspected at least once a year. Connectors, spark arrestors, cleanouts and tee fittings connected to chimneys for oil, gas, wood, coal or pellet venting systems, shall be inspected at least once a year for soundness and deposits. Cleaning, maintenance and repairs shall be done if necessary.
Below is an example of typical creosote (ash) buildup in the chimney of a wood fired stove after a season of normal use. The amount and type of creosote may vary depending on the type of wood used, how much the wood was seasoned, how hot the stove was operated. Creosote accumulation, is the main reason for cleaning a chimney. If the buildup of creosote on the chimney's inside surface ignites, a chimney fire results. Chimneys need cleaning to prevent this buildup and thus reduce the possibility of a chimney fire.
